Mismatched Navy Blue Bridesmaid Dresses
Well, if my Pinterest board activity is any indication, many of you are smitten with the idea of mismatched bridesmaid dresses for your bridal party! Today, I’m sharing some ideas for one of my favorite colors for the mismatched bridesmaid dress look: navy blue!
In previous mismatched bridesmaid dress posts, I’ve detailed how to get the right balance and also my own missteps with telling my bridal party to “just wear blue”! As it turns out, there are so many shades of blue, that even in one color family — like navy — there can be quite a range. Some navy blue shades lean more toward royal blue, while others look almost midnight blue or black, while still others can have purple undertones. The first step in doing a mismatched look is deciding which of these navy hues you want, or making sure that the mix is so mixed that it is forgiving for using many different shades of navy. You’ll also want to decide dress length, and how varied fabrics should be. Then comes the fun part!

1. Monique Lhuillier Chiffon Gown at Nordstrom 2. Adrianna Papell Beaded Blouson Gown at Nordstrom 3. Amsale Draped Tulle Gown 4. Jim Hjelm Style 5403 in Indigo or See more blue bridesmaid dresses at Nordstrom.
The fun part is picking the dresses. Fortunately, the look is pretty easy to achieve thanks to retailers and bridal boutiques who are very experienced with this trend. I have recently learned that the picks at Nordstrom are especially selected to make this mix and match approach very easy. Their buyers specifically pick ‘sister’ styles that will coordinate well together. For beading I love Adrianna Papell. For classically beautiful styles and elegant fabrics try Amsale or Monique Lhuillier, and for beautiful and a huge range of colors and styles try Donna Morgan. Jenny Yoo styles are great convertible styles (i.e. one dress gives you many looks), and for tailored silk looks try Alfred Sung.
They are especially if you want a mismatch in the exact same color and fabric, and just want your bridesmaids to choose their own silhouette.

Also don’t forget the option to rent! Try Rent the Runway or Little Borrowed Dress, which also have tons of silhouettes in coordinating colors ( Rent the Runway has loads of sequin gowns!) My advice would be to pick a few of the dresses you like from here, and ask your bridesmaids to pick one from the images above, or give them a store, designer, or fabric to choose from. Your bridal party will have the navy mismatched look in the inspiration above in no time!
