Polka Dots for a Wedding and Bridesmaid Look
One of the trends this year that I can definitely get on board with is the presence of polka dots on lots of things! I think it’s a great look for a wedding party as well, but I may be a bit biased. My own parents’ wedding (before my time, of course!) had bridesmaids wearing pretty Swiss dot dresses, and my cousin had her bridesmaids wear dotted dresses as well. So, the weddings that I admired from my earliest days had dots! I think it’s a wonderful idea to not only have signature colors at your wedding, but a signature pattern, too! Why not make it polka dots?
What I’m showing here is a very modern take on the polka dot, because it’s actually two current trends in one: metallics and dots! When I saw this dress from Eliza J, I knew I wanted to feature it. Then, when I saw it came in three styles, I knew I had to feature it for bridesmaids because each member of your wedding party can pick the shape that flatters them. To take advantage of having the three styles, I wanted to show three looks for bringing different colors with this pattern. I think it’s also lovely as a wedding guest dress, or a holiday party dress, too.
Do you know who else loves dots? Kate Spade! She has a dots on her wonderful jewelry, shoes, bags, even her housewares and fine china, so if you’re dot obsessed, she’s the designer for you! Here I’m showing three accessory colors: gold, gray, and pearl with the dress, but if it’s too much polka dot, you can just pair these accessories with a solid dress. I’ve show lots of Kate Spade’s dot accessories, and ties for the groomsmen to match. So, if you’re planning a polka dot themed wedding, I think you’ve found the spot! (Har. Har.)
