About THEIA’s Fall 2020 Bridal Collection
This season, Creative Director Don O’Neill turned to two inspiring women, Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo and Julie Helen, a friend, and former THEIA bride who bravely battles Cerebral Palsy.
Embracing your uniqueness and feeling comfortable in your own skin was an underlying theme throughout the collection.
THEIA’s signature crepe dresses form the foundation of the collection, simple and clean silhouettes alongside gowns adorned with jeweled straps, lace appliques, and guipure trims, or a plunging neckline embroidered with pearls and micro-sequins.
Laser-cut floral petals are delicately embroidered on soft tulle that gently stretches and cradles the body, while volume and ruffles in parachute taffeta, silk organza and tulle swirl playfully around the body decorated with flowers, like those that Frida picked daily from her gardens at Casa Azul. ”

More About the Inspiration Behind the Fall 2020 Collection from THEIA Designer Don ONeill
Two women inspired the narrative for the Fall 2020 collection. A trip to see The Frida Kahlo Exhibit at The Brooklyn Museum was the genesis for this season. I loved this fearless style icon’s collection of beautiful clothing, which she used to define her ethnicity, disability, and politics, all of which were at the heart of her work. Frida embraced the traditional Tehuana style to create her own unique look, ruffled and frilled in her feminine voluminous skirts one day, yet on another day embracing her masculine side wearing menswear.
The second is Julie Helen, an Irish beauty who bravely battles Cerebral Palsy. As a friend and former THEIA bride, she is one of the most inspiring young women I know. At THEIA, I strive to dress women who have different bodies and needs, to make them feel comfortable and gorgeous in their skin. Seeing Julie in her THEIA gown, feeling radiant and beautiful on her wedding day was a testament to what Iendeavorto accomplish as a designer.
Our signature crepe dresses form the foundation of the collection, simple and clean silhouettes alongside gowns adorned with jeweled straps, lace appliques, and guipure trims, or a plunging neckline embroidered with pearls and micro-sequins. Our laser cut floral petals are delicately embroidered on soft tulle that gently stretches and cradles the body, while volume and ruffles in parachute taffeta, silk organza, and tulle swirl playfully around the body decorated with flowers, like those that Frida picked daily from her gardens at Casa Azul.
