Well, it's three days in, and I haven't really wished you all a happy October yet, and I also haven't greeted October in my customary start-of-the-month way by presenting a wedding guest attire idea for the month! For this October wedding guest look, I decided this purplish shade that is somewhere between plum, purple, and magenta, was the perfect color for this time of year. I love it because it sets off other fall colors like weathered golds, bronze, and even yellows, rusts, and even some reds so well. Orange is often the signature color of the month, but this purple shade gets my vote for a runner up. I thought picking up some amber colors with the accessories would give this classic lace dress a autumnal style. I love the way that necklace with gray, orange and a bit of blue, stands out against the purple-- but I almost didn't include it because sometimes a necklace with anykind of pronged setting will catch on lace, but as far as the colors go -- I think this works! This purple shade and whole emsemble is one of those versatile looks that works for a daytime or evening wedding; and since the days are getting shorter it's nice to have a style that works for both!

This is perfect. October can still be quite warm so the short sleeves and strappy heels are perfect and the rich color is well suited to fall. My only question is: do you have a suggestion for a wrap or something warm to throw over the shoulders for cool nights in the mountains?

Thanks, Christie! You're so right - this needs a wrap! I put some with a post I did last year for an outdoor wedding, but anything from Sept. on needs a little cover up option. My old favorite, Nordstrom, has a whole rainbow of wraps!
